The Air Force Golf Course

The Air Force Golf Course was the first golf course in Chiang Rai, built some 30 years ago by a group of novice golfers and Air Force personnel. The course was completely redesigned in 2003 by Barry Finch Jr., a golf professional from California. The new design is a very challenging, par-32 layout with 4 par-3’s and 5 par-4’s. The course is on a rather small piece of land and so the design objective was to make it fun for good players and a place where new players could learn to play golf better.

Every hole has its own challenges and requires that you give them your full attention. There are two, “island green” holes, and a significant number of pot bunkers scattered around to test your skill and help you to improve your game. The Air Force Golf Course is currently managed by the designer who teaches golf to both locals and visitors alike. For those who want to learn to play better golf, this course is recommended. The 26-station driving range, practice putting, and chipping areas are staffed by a team of very helpful professionals. There’s also a restaurant named World Class Hamburgers & Steaks Restaurant that serves some of the best hamburgers in town.
