Orange Trumpet Creeper (Pyrostegia venusta)
The orange trumpet creeper, called “Phuang Saet” in Thai, is a South American native, and is the provincial flower of Chiang Rai. It is a vigorous, evergreen climber that supports itself by means of coiled, thread-like tendrils growing from the apex of some of the bright green leaves. Abundant, bold orange flowers are produced from about late December until March and can be seen in homes, gardens, and public areas in Chiang Rai.
