What to do in Chiang Rai?
Chiang Rai offers a broad range of activities, enhanced by the city’s compact size, light traffic, proximity to many points of interest, beautiful surrounding countryside, and excellent roads. There is a plethora of interesting things to see, historical places to visit, markets to shop in, temples to wonder at, and small side roads to explore by bicycle. Visitors can choose from a large selection of excursions, including river trips, half day and full day tours of every kind, plus cross-border visits to Burma and Laos. Not realising this, many people make the mistake of staying just one or two nights ‘to do’ Chiang Rai—and end up wishing they had booked for at least a week.
The region is also abundant in classic and modern Thai art, there are many places to visit for nature lovers and if you are so inclined, you can always go and play a round of golf on one of the four golf courses around Chiang Rai.
